Dress Code

2020

Soft felt, cotton

"dress like a man" is a statement that implies showing a set of rules of behavior that express virility, power, prestige.

Clothing is a social code, imposed above all by gender.

"dress like a man" and "dress like a woman" are placed on two different levels: we ask men to dress to express a sense of power, and we ask women to dress to stimulate a sexual desire of others.

It is no coincidence that when we imagine a career woman, we imagine her stereotypically dressed as a man: with a jacket and tie, strictly masculine accessories and symbols of purely masculine prestige.

on the contrary, for a man to dress like a woman is mortifying, humiliating for the male ego, as women's clothes are not designed to express the same concept as men's.

The bow tie and even more so the tie are exclusively part of the male dress code, and giving it the forms of the orchid (orchid from the Greek "orkhis" which means testicles) means merging male (the concept) and female (the flower reminds the vulva's forms)

Fashion is sexualized, a symptom of habit: by habit we attribute certain types of clothing to certain sexes, as clothing is used to express a stereotypical concept of the sexes.

By dress code we mean a set of rules of behavior regarding clothing, and we live it every day without noticing. The dress code we are used to has sexist matrices, and it is time to free ourselves from the conceptions we have about an item of clothing
